Just playing around with our libs: first look second look Ignore the not-smooth blends, it's only in the video. On screen it's smooth.

it's in playground/multimedia/phonon/ for now. In a state that can only be called a test. I was hoping to make this a kded module, but making kded use an ARGB visual is probably a no-go. So it seems like I need to create my own little app only for this popup.

So how would this work? What happens if your watching a moive and want to change the sound but don't want to have a volume slider cover your film, that doable?

The app would get a simple dbus interface so that other apps could disable the popup. The app itself cannot detect whether it may not show itself at a given point in time from all I know.

btw, for better screen capture results, consider using recordMyDesktop. there's a PyQt gui for it even.

recordmydesktop captured some really beautiful pink noisy stuff (well not beautiful). Other apps did the same. xvidcap was the only one that produced a useful result.

There's also Istanbul, which records Ogg Theora videos. It's based on Python and GStreamer and it uses some GNOME libs, so hopefully you're not allergic to those.

select area doesn't work. That's a rather important function. I'll stay with xvidcap for now then.

Looks fantastic. I suppose one for the lcd brightness would look similiar?

Also... how would mute look?

Great Work Matthias! One small piece to making the desktop look much much nicer.
