I'm in Olso since last Tuesday evening working with Trolltech on Phonon. I'll report on that in another entry...
Over the weekend I visited my brother and we went to Øvre Årdal on Saturday for a hike. The weather in Hønefoss was really nice with blue skies the morning, but arriving in the Jotunheimen region all was dark, cold and wet. We started our tour at about 14:30 with only little rain and only 100m above sea level. The way steeply went up the mountain close to a waterfall and then later, when we reached the timberline continued on a height at about 1000m. When we had to cross a bigger stream we decided to stay there for the night and my brother took a bath under the waterfall.
Next morning (after a rather rainy evening and night) we crossed the stream on a slippery bough because it was too wide to jump and too deep to wade through. It would have been a bad start to get wet there, but we made it. On the next kilometer my already wet trousers (yes, how could they have dried in the cold and rainy night?) got soaking wet and the path continued to look like a brook or swamp most of the time. It got drier later but with slippery stones and steep slopes. It took a lot of strength to keep the balance and not lose "road contact".
Despite all the exertions and uncomfortable weather we had a good time. Especially seeing the nice landscape when the weather allowed it. And after the mind-intensive days before at the Trolltech offices this was a very good compensation.
